One significant effect of the global pandemic on the world of work has been where employees have based themselves for work. We have all seen employees use the opportunity of remote working to relocate to somewhere that better suits them – whether that is a return to family in a native country, a chance to experience a different continent or working on the laptop on a beach somewhere hot.

Discrimination based on age is prohibited, but happens frequently (and often even without us being aware of it).

On 21 January 2021, the Federal Labour Court rendered a judgement (File no.: 8 AZR 488/19) that makes it easier for female employees to assert a claim to equal pay with their male colleagues.

In November 2020, the Conference of the Ministers of Justice discussed the proposal of our initiative #stayonboard, which is aimed at implementing a legal right for board members to take a break from their office in certain situations such as for childcare and thus improve their balance between family and career.
